Family Weekend

Pretend this is 1974 and I just got my vacation slides back from the photo lab. Although if that really were the case, it would be November before I got around to taking them in to be developed and waited for them to be ready. And I wasn't even born until 1980. Thank god it's not 1974.

So, we went up to the family cottage in the woods (Thank you for having us Grandma N!) over the long holiday weekend. When we arrived Friday afternoon, we were greeted by the cutest set of boy/girl twins I think I have ever seen.

The kids ate pickles and played together outside most of the afternoon.

They all had a chance to see the resident black bear too...
After waiving off the idea of taking all four children out to dinner, even with the 1 adult to every child ratio, we ordered a pizza from one of the local restaurants and ate it right at the cottage. No way any of those kids were going to make it through dinner at a crowded restaurant on 4th of July weekend. That's kind of how the rest of the weekend went as well. We took our kids out in the boat and to the fireworks display Saturday night but the twins didn't leave the yard all weekend. They had plenty of fun blowing into noisy game calls and playing in the boat without ever going in the water.

So while the little kids refused to nap played at the cottage, the rest of us went out in the boat. We have a favorite spot we like to anchor in where it's shallow enough for the kids to play and swim.

And of course we brought along some snacks...

The girls shared a soda, but since Binny is a complete germaphobe (although she did eat the rest of Mae's sucker from the bank last Friday without any mention of germs and how gross they are) Grandma had the brilliant idea of splitting it into two glasses.
Only trouble was that we didn't bring along any clean glasses in the boat with us. We did however have a few empty beer cans rolling around.

I swear, it's ORANGE SODA, not beer.

Once we were all done with the boat, the guys washed it up while Binny and I helped Grandma with dinner.

It was a fun weekend!

What a great set of photos! Love the twins too!

Glad you had such a fun weekend! And come on you'd love it to be 1974 again. Think of those platform shoes and flared trousers you would be wearing! :D
