I accidentally left my phone at home yesterday, so when we returned after being gone the entire day, I had 4 voice mail messages to listen to. The first 3 were uneventful. The first was my Dad calling just to say hello. The next was my mother-in-law calling to tell us that she finally figured out why her computer wasn't burning DVDs. Apparently her computer didn't have a DVD burner, go figure. The third was a friend. But number 4, good old number 4 (my favorite number by the way, long before
Brett Favre) was my dear
Grandma Dee. Now you may remember from previous posts that
Grandma Dee has a way with words. She cracks. me. up. Especially when her and my grandfather (who by the way is 91, very hard of hearing and refuses to get hearing aids) have a conversation, which is more like my grandfather talking in a normal tone and my grandmother yelling so he can hear her.
This is what I heard, but because I was laughing so hard, I missed half of the message. I had to listen to it twice to get the whole thing.
Grandma: That wasn't the number I wanted. How did I get that number? No, I tried to call Shirley
Grandpa: Shirley?
Grandma: Shirley... CHRISTOFERSON
Grandpa: Oh my goodness
Grandma: Yeah, Goodness is right. 773-xxxx. Now how did I get a hold of Ali for God sakes?
Grandpa: Ah heck you'd better try again, have you got the phonebook?
Grandma: I JUST GOT THIS PHONE NUMBER FROM PAT. *click*In 2 weeks the whole fam. is packing up and driving out to North Dakota (my home state) to attend my Grandmother's 80th Birthday party. It promises to be a good time and hopefully (if I can convince my mom to let me borrow her laptop with web cam, and if I can figure out how to use it) I will make a video with my grandma to document her 80th birthday and see if I can get her to
swear on camera tell a story or two, you know to mark the occasion.
