Monday Garden Club And A Giveaway

Well, after what seemed like an eternity of no Internet access, our motherboard has been replaced and I'm back online and ready for a garden update.

I harvested this trailer full of produce last week while I was computer-less. The little yellow winter squash with the green stripes are delicious. I split, seeded and baked 2 last night for dinner and believe it or not, the kids scraped out every last bit of squashy (and buttery, brown sugary) goodness. Binny may have even licked her plate...

There are still a few giant pumpkins out in the garden that were too big for me to carry up to the house.

We had our first frost warning last night. There were a few squishy tomatoes this morning but the peppers I have been reluctant to pick (because they are still ripening) were okay. I then decided to pick all of the peppers that were mostly red or yellow and not chance another night outside.
And yes, my front porch still looks like a produce drop-off site at a food pantry.
The sunflower seeds are ready to harvest but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I probably have enough to plant an entire 20 acre field of the happy flowers. Anybody local want some?
One more thing... Remember last year at the end of the season when I gave away a pint of peaches? Well, I'm doing it again! Except this time I'm giving away a quart because a pint of peaches is never enough. To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post. If you happened to participate in my Monday Garden Club any time this season, leave a second comment for an additional entry. This giveaway is open until Sunday October 10. I'll draw and announce the winner next Monday. Good luck!

Wow, I wish I got HALF that much food from my garden. Just too much shade here in the burbs. :(

Those peaches look divine. You should send me some even if I don't win :)

Once again, yum! Do you ever make sunflower (instead of peanut) butter?

Don't worry I'm not expecting you to send peaches to the UK, I just wanted to say it's nice to have you back again!

Your pumpkins look awesome btw! And the striped squash is bush delicata, no? We love that variety too!

I wish I lived closer, so I could get some squash. I plan to go to my Farmers Market on Sat. and buy some. I want some peaches, too.

I think I deserve to win since we lost our peach tree and we didn't get any yummy peaches from it. So, so sad. You feel bad for me don't you ;-)

BTW - I have linked up several times to your Garden Club! I even have a recipe coming out on my blog tomorrow in which I use green bell peppers from my garden. I also took a bunch of photos yesterday of the garden and the watermelons, but I haven't had a chance to download them from my camera yet otherwise I would be linking up again this week!

Humm, another "anonymous" L? :) You can send peaches my way since I didn't can any this year and you wouldn't have to ship them! Ha. And I'll take some sunflower seeds. Email me when you'll be home. Thanks! -- L

Looks like you had a fantastic year! I'm tickled that I made it home just in time to get some tomatoes and peppers before the first frost. Looking forward to next summer and the Monday Garden Club!

Those peaches made my mouth water. I don't have to share them, do I?
