Earlier this month when we went to Minneapolis, my mom handed me a bag while we were having breakfast and said, "I know it's a little late, but here's your birthday present from me. I bought it on my trip to Seattle... but actually I could have bought it here at home... anyhow, just open the bag!"
Inside were three pairs of socks.
Mom: Look, Honey, they're SmartWool!!!!
Me: Oh..... *confused look* As opposed to dumb wool?
Well, after wearing pretty much nothing else on my feet for the last month, I can say that those 3 pairs of socks were one of the best gifts she's ever given me. Who knew that socks would be so enjoyable? SmartWool socks don't itch against your skin and aren't big and bulky like regular

I love good socks! I didn't know they were called SmartWool, though. I make socks out of superwash merino wool from Knit Picks and yes, they do and are all those things you said...except go up to your knees because I am not about to knit socks that long. At least I don't think so, but I guess you never know! I've been known to change my mind.
Love the stripy socks! Very smart. Pun intended.
Cute! I got some of the SmartWool as a gift (I remember thinking the same thing - is there DumbWool?) and they're the only ones that keep my feet warm.
Apparently, according to Glamour which was the only magazine of even a shade of interest for me available while I was stationary biking at the gym, apparently, those long tall socks are all the rage with high heels. So you can dress up for a night on the town, with those socks on. Don't believe me, go here and page through to #9 of the dos and don'ts.
Some love was left for you...

There's really nothing like a great pair of socks!
Santa Claus is alive and well in the hearts of children who believe all around the world. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy.
