Wardrobe Wednesday

*The four people who visit at my photo blog (you sweet people) have already seen a photo from this set, but if you haven't, it's worth a look. I also finally added a link on my sidebar. ---->

Cloudy and rainy is not ideal weather for me. When it's cold and rainy, I lock myself in the house and lay around all day in my pajamas. It's not pretty.

I'm wearing real clothes today (sweatshirt and jeans count as real clothes right?) and I even went outside for a bit this morning as we are between rain showers. More rain on the way for tonight and tomorrow. Lovely. I actually even swore at the weatherman on the 10 o'clock news last night. I need sunshine!

Oh yeah, Wardrobe Wednesday! Anyhow, over the weekend, before the miserable clouds and rain settled in, Mae and I spent one morning cooking. Binny loves to help me in the kitchen while Mae would rather help her daddy out in the shed, but after I told her that she could wear the cupcake apron and hat, she was in. We made raspberry jam (store bought raspberries), rhubarb/raspberry crisp and some cooked rhubarb sauce.
She stirred the jam until she insisted her arm was about to fall off. Just perfect Mae! That's how you know when it's done. After all, cooking is an exact science.

Mmmm, homemade jam. I was raised by a woman who made fish sticks for special occasions, so when a friend gave me some homemade strawberry jam...I almost died. It's like an entirely different category of food from store bought jam.

Mae knows how good that jam is going to taste!

Next year, I'll be joining you in your rhubarb craziness... hopefully. I thought i had made an error with even trying to grow it in VA being so hot ( and no, i didn't do my research before I bought it at the co-op so I didn't know it was a cold weather loving plant) but my neighbors have it and they said it grows fine. So, let's hope! :) Great photos as always!!!

Yum! I'd love the recipe too. And I've been swearing at the weatherman for quite some time now.

And we're SO SO SO sick of the rain here, too!
