My living room picture window was embarrassingly filthy so I took advantage of the nice weather and washed all of the windows that I could reach off the step ladder. It felt good to be outside.
The smell of the air was intoxicating and I mean the fresh spring smell, not the pig farm across the road. I almost believed it to be true. Could it be? Is winter over? Ha! Those hopes were dashed the very next day. Saturday was rainy and cool, then Sunday. Sunday was terrible. it rained all morning, then that ever fun freezing rain turn everything into an icicle thing, then a few inches of snow and high winds. During the wind storm Sunday afternoon one of the skylights from our shed blew off and landed in the yard leaving a gaping hole in our shed.
My freshly raked front yard? Full of fallen branches. So much for Spring cleaning.
I do have to admit that the ice was pretty.
Today is rainy and foggy. I haven't climbed out of my sweat pants yet (and don't plan to) and have an annoying headache thing going on, but I'm making soup. I found a recipe for Wild Rice soup on a great food blog, Chomping the Big Apple. I omitted the chicken pieces but used some organic chicken stock that I had in the freezer. I also used regular wild rice, not the mix so I increased the cooking time to almost an hour. I love soup on a rainy day.
*Update* I tried the soup. Wonderful, but next time I think I will add bacon.

Love the ice shots.
I love the ice photos too!
My kids love to clean the windows with me. I am not stopping them - hopefully it will stay with them into adult hood!
I'm waiting for my yard work day... waiting, waiting.
Love the pics. The ice ones are awesome.
It's been beautiful here, as well, but tomorrow it's going to rain & get cooler, again. I can't really complain about the rain, because we've been in drought conditions for 2 yrs, but still... I was liking the nice weather, lol.
do ya think I tell you every day that I love your pics? LOL
Awesome photos!
And yes, if Spring doesn't arrive soon I think I might just burst!
Yeah, spring is a big tease. It's so windy now, you'd think we were living in Kansas or something. LOVE your icy photos! Something about that ice is just very serene to me.
(oh, and your comment about your saint on my site? I KNOW! Does yours like to jump up and sit in your lap? Crazy wonderful beasts!)
Bacon makes everything better. So says one of my friends. Then she found something it didn't make better. Maybe that was ice cream.
Ahhh, bummer for the busted shed! I feel ya on the weather woes...it is the same where I live. We'll have a day or two of sun (though it's still cold) and then the rains will come again...
