The Tooth Fairy Strikes Again

I had a recipe planned for today (not really planned in the sense that my post was written, but I have the pictures ready to go) but then something blog worthy happened last night.

Something huge!

Binny lost her first tooth! And she's not 5 yet. Not until the end of the month at least. I guess I'm not surprised that she lost her tooth already. Her two bottom front teeth came in at 3 months. Thank goodness breast feeding was just a memory by that time!

She has been wiggling that little tooth for a while now and was too nervous, scared, anxious to remove it, but finally after flopping around for what seemed like forever, out it came.

Binny is a very emotional child, so big changes also bring big tears (see the teary eyes?) mixed with laughter. She was so excited about losing a tooth yet was freaked the hell out by the actual event. When it was time for bed she was still shaking a bit on the way upstairs, but she was also a little concerned about the Tooth Fairy's visit. The thought of a woman flying into my room in the middle of the night, and rummaging under my pillow doesn't appeal to me either, but she wanted to do it.

The Tooth Fairy delivered a little puzzle and a crisp 1 dollar bill. Binny was delighted with the goods and her smile is even more precious.

My parents hadn't yet told me about losing teeth when I bit into an apple and lost my first one at 4 or 5 - they said I burst into tears! They explained it, but at the time, I had trouble believing it would grow back ;)

I am so not letting Princess know about this. She is 5 1/2 and the dentist said it will be a while before she loses a tooth. Princess is a very emotional child as well...but she loves everything fairy (and princess and mermaid...). I wonder how she'll handle it when it does finally happen.

MM is dreading losing her teeth and so am I for that matter. Those pics by the way are adorable even with the teary eyes.

Great pics! I can't believe she lost a tooth so early! I don't blame her a bit for being freaked out. Every single time my oldest has lost a tooth, I cringe.

How sweet. I just found this really cool seller on Etsy who makes Fairy Doors that you stick on the wall and they would be perfect for the Fairy phobic child. You can put the tooth in front of the door instead of under your pillow.

Aww!! She's adorable, missing her front little tooth. She sounds a lot like Emily. She was laughed & cried at the same time. She didn't lose her first took until she was 6 1/2 yrs old. I have a feeling Olivia will be losing hers a lot sooner than that.

Now I feel bad. I have no idea when either of my daughters lost their first teeth. I do remember my older daughter having her tooth knocked out when a girl in front of her in a queue gave her a head butt. Does that count?

There are so many things I love about this post, I don't know where to begin.

A) You have enticed with a promise of a recipe and pix.

B) Having worked for a pediatric dentist in a former life, I love these little ones and their first tooth loss. Soooo sweet.

C) I remembered the post about Mae and thought, wow, Aliceson has been at this a while now! Your posts never fail to deliver...

Congrats!

Can't wait for the recipe...

Thanks for all of the sweet words, my blog friends!

Great suggestion Kelly. Her birthday is coming up in a few weeks...

Amy G, Not til 6 1/2? Wow! I guess every kid is different.

Joey, I hope the tooth that was knocked out was a baby tooth. Ouch either way!

Skye, You make me blush with your kind words. ;) We have a great pediatric dentist here and all of the assisstants/hygenists are great with kids! Huge improvement from the last dentist!

The recipe will be up on Thursday! We've BOTH been at this blogging thing for a while.

Thanks for the award SMT!

awww. My goodness; if she is this emotional over a tooth you're in trouble. What will it be like when she gets her period, with the hormones added? lol.

We had a few occasions where the forgetful tooth fairy didn't show up, and the excuses we came up with were pretty funny. "Oh... uh... you probably didn't fold the tissue around the tooth properly..."

Wonderful and so sweet. My son gets a gold coin (I believe that pirates were the big thing when he lost his first tooth) so we keep a supply of gold dollars on hand. Once they start coming they seem to follow no set pattern so we've found that preparedness goes a long way (once I was forced to visit several banks before I found just one gold coin).
