Adventures in Photoshopping

About a year ago I bought Photoshop Elements to help me do more extreme photo editing. Little did I know photoshop (even Elements) is a complicated program, for me at least. Hubby and I have used it a few times to fix a few huge minor errors but I have never played around with the different layer effects, until yesterday. Blogger Kelly posted a link to some free photoshop actions and I felt inspired to try it out. The actions are super easy to use once installed and produce beautiful photos! Thank you Kelly!!!

This was the color pop action adjusted almost all the way to B&W.

Awesome! I really like the messy hair photo. If you want a really great book to help you with PSE get The Photoshop Elements Book by Scott Kelby & Matt Kloskowski. It's like my bible and it isn't dry and techy-like. It's kind of funny, for a book about software.

Your pics turned out neat!

I like that "messy hair" one, too. Very cool. That program has always been too intimidating for me. As is most of Adobe's stuff once you move beyond the basics. Good for you!

Totally impressed.

I think photoshop is very cool, but after five years, have given up on trying to use it.

I am definitely missing the tech-gene.

You really have a great eye, beyond the culinary delights you share so frequently.

Just so you know I used to be a photoshop professional retouch artist so if you need any help give me a shout. I am more than happy to help you. I have the professional version but a lot of the elements are the same.

The photos are great, I love the messy hair one too!

Kelly,
Thanks for the book suggestion, anything that can make sense of PSE without techie jargon is good asset.

Heather,
Wow, that's impressive! Thanks for the offer... I would love to have someone to bounce questions off of.

I loooove photoshop! I can do a lot on it, but my middle child is a wiz! That girl knows all the ins and outs, it's scary what she can do to an image! lol. She even makes her own brushes. Weird kid.

I'm a huge fan of photoshop. I learned most of the ins and out of the program on the job. It's amazing what you can do in a short amount of time. There is often more than one way to do several tasks. One person would have their way of fixing something, someone else another, and we'd always argue about who's method was the quickest.

Beautiful photos! It helps to have a great photo to start with!ts

I think I'm just too plain dumb to do stuff like that. So I'll just admire yours. Both pictures are adorable.
